A Few Career Options in Agriculture

Does Agriculture necessarily mean forking, ploughing, planting?? No!!

There are endless avenues. Today I'll share just five of these amazing opportunities.

Agricultural Journalist

An agricultural journalist is the individual responsible for transferring information from the agricultural industry to the public and vice versa. The work of news analysts, reporters, and correspondents is usually hectic.


Agricultural Education Teacher


A specific job within the broad field of agricultural education careers is the public school Agriculture Teacher. These professional educators are critical in sharing knowledge about and in agriculture. 


The agriculture teacher provides instruction to students in various subjects under the broad umbrella of agriculture. Subjects such as forestry, horticulture, animal science, and agriculture mechanics may be part of the local school curriculum based on the needs of the community. 


Agricultural Photographer

An Ag Photographer takes pictures of people, animals, crops, merchandise, or anything else related to agriculture. These photos may be used for a variety of resources such as magazines, newspapers, advertisements, websites, etc.

Agritourism Manager

Agricultural tourism is fast becoming an important part of the agriculture industry. This sector includes outdoor recreation, educational experiences, entertainment, agricultural sales, accommodations, and more. Examples of operations within agritourism include petting zoos, exotic animal farms, school tours, road-side stands, and farm or ranch vacations. 

Letting persons taste the sweetness of Farms

An agritourism manager owns and/or operates a business directed towards serving and educating the public. Agritourism managers are responsible for developing a business plan to run their operation. They may serve as a tour guide for groups visiting their operation. As the manager, it is necessary that one is familiar with all aspects of the operation and that they pay attention to the details.


Meteorologist
Meteorologists deal with weather, in all its forms. They are the ones that forecast rain for tomorrow and predict the highs and lows each day. 



The professionals in the meteorologist field that study long-term weather phenomena are referred to as climatologists. Climatologists study climactic variations spanning hundreds or even millions of years. Others are in the broadcasting business. This type consists of the weather men and women that we see on television. Another large area of employment is in the private industry. Meteorologists of this kind work as consultants or computer processors of weather information for private firms.
